Mangosteen is a whole fruit grown in Thailand that holds wonderful antioxidants, rich in fiber, calcium ,iron, magnesium, and copper. High in Vitamin c, vitamin b6, vitamin b12, and is non GMO. Mangosteen contains two important components: beneficial antioxidants and Xanthone medicinal properties. Xanthones are a type of biologically “active” compound that is unique. They are active when they combine with other molecules and become extremely beneficial to the body’s systems. Xanthones have anti-depressant, anti-diabetic, anti-leukemic, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, as well as anti-viral properties. Xanthones enter the cell wall as antioxidants and can even kill intracellular bacteria before they can wreak havoc on the cell’s DNA. Xanthones are never found alone, but rather in mixtures of molecules. The pericarp of the mangosteen fruit contains 24 of the 200 known Xanthones. There is no other fruit or single food source that has this quantity.
